31st Annual Run for the Roses 5-K Walk/Run To Be Held in Prentiss, MS April 12, 2014

 

    The 31st annual Run for the Roses 5K Run/Walk event will be held Saturday, April 12th beginning at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Prentiss. This is a Mississippi Track Club Grand prix event and is sponsored by local businesses and organizations.

   Events include 5-K Run/Walk, 1-Mile Run/Walk, and ¼-Mile Preschool Run.

   5-K Course records are male 15:03 minutes and female 18:18 minutes. A $500 Cash Award will be given to the male and female who break the 5K-course record.

       5-K Run/Walk overall winners, male and female, will receive awards and $100 cash, male and female Masters Winners will receive awards and $50 cash, Grandmasters male and female winners will receive awards and $50 cash, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age division will receive awards. Five-member walking teams will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. The MS Track Club keeps times for each event.

   1-Mile Run/Walk overall winners male and female and top three finishers in each age group ages 0-15, and top two finishers in each age group regardless of sex 16-60+ will receive awards.

   5-member teams may compete in the 5-K walk. An award will be presented to the school with the most participants.

   Other events during the day include a concert by American Idol Contestant Skylar Laine, an Arts & Crafts Market and Antique Car Show.

    This is a family friendly event and all are invited to attend and/or participate for a day of fun. Proceeds from the Run are used to support college scholarships and community improvements.
