Mission:
Seek the lost. Save the found. Cultivate disciples.
Beliefs:
Russell Springs Christian Church is a congregation composed of immersed believers in Christ, accepting the Bible as the revealed word of God.
We recognize Christ as the only head of his Church and accept the Scriptures as the only authority for faith and practice.
We proclaim the same terms of admission to the church as did the apostles. One must hear the Gospel, believe in Christ and his word, repent of one's sins, and confess Christ as Lord and Savior. Finally, one must be baptized for the remission of sin and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
We do not profess to be the only Christians, but we strive to be Christians only.
Personal holiness is imperative to eternal life. We are not saved by our works, but we are saved to do good works in the service of the Kingdom of God.
The Lord's Supper is observed each Sunday, proclaiming the Lord's death until he comes again. The Table is open to all baptized believers.
In matters of government, the congregation is completely autonomous with an elected board of elders and deacons to direct the spiritual and business affairs of the church.
History:
Russell Springs Christian Church was organized in 1913.
Members first met in a store belonging to Mr. Popplewell.
Dr. John D. Combest and his sister, Tina Wells, purchased the first church building from the Northern Methodists in 1916. They later deeded the building to the Russell Springs Christian Church.
