Mission Statement
St. Mark's continues to live its mission: "We are a downtown church, committed to the Gospel, accountable to each other; loving Christ and making him known."
St. Mark's is a church with vibrant programs, meaningful worship and attentive care for people of all ages. We serve as an after-school resource, with mentoring and enriching programs, serving an ethnically and economically diverse community.
St. Mark's is a scripture-grounded community, committed to bringing all people to a transformational relationship with Christ. Every member is equipped, ordained and empowered for ministry in daily life; is biblically literate; and practices mutual accountability. St. Mark's is a spiritual resource for the city, the broader church and our society.
St. Mark's has a dynamic Center for Theology and Christian Formation that meets in locations throughout the city. The Center has leading edge, innovative, and intensive programs that focus on the intentional exercise of our faith in daily life and work.
St. Mark's serves as an aesthetic resource for the city, reflecting the beauty and quality of Christ's body in the world. This is reflected in St. Mark's extensive music programs and concerts. St. Mark's is proclaiming its historical position in San Antonio, is a visitors' destination, and has civic, cultural, arts and music resource center, with gallery, lecture hall and other public spaces.
St. Mark's maintains exceptional facilities to accomplish this vision. It is a landmark, which occupies three owned blocks, from Broadway to St. Mary's, and includes abundant parking.
St. Mark's average Sunday attendance exceeds one thousand persons, each of whom meaningfully participates in ministries, missions, outreach, small groups, and classes.
St. Mark's visionary financial planning is supported by all members; where each parishioner gives generously every year by timely pledging without solicitation. We have also increased our endowment so that endowment income exceeds our annual operating budget.
