About
The San Marcos Performing Arts Association (SMPAA) sprang from an idea Marie Jager had in the spring of 1986 to start a free summer concert series and a festival at Christmas. This year (2014) marks 28 years of “Summer in the Park” and “Sights n Sounds of Christmas.”
“Sights n Sounds of Christmas” occurs on the first weekend of December on the banks of the San Marcos River and has long become an entity of its own.
SMPAA continues the “Summer in the Park” free concert series from the first Thursday evening of June to the middle of August. We always promote area talent and work with the city, Parks and Recreation, and local business sponsors to provide a variety of quality summer entertainment.
SMPAA also sponsor “Flootapalooza,” a summer flute workshop and Second Act Troupe (SAT), a group of actors and theater folks 55 years and older. SAT is currently searching for a director/coordinator to lead the group.
