Beliefs:
We are a Christian community of faith, journeying together in spirit and service. While as individuals we may be in different places on our spiritual journey, we find common ground in opening our arms to all, supporting each other and serving others. We are an Open and Affirming congregation and a caring community.
We are a welcoming church, part of the United Church of Christ. Our congregation comes from many backgrounds, including non-Christian. Like all Congregational churches stretching back to the Pilgrims, we covenant with each other to support and run our church ourselves. Our faith centers on tolerance and exploring God’s love in our everyday lives, without a strong emphasis on dogma and rituals.
About Us:
At SCC this is not just a tag line; we truly mean it. You will find that beliefs are not imposed on you here – we are interested in exploring faith and spirituality. We invite diversity and community into all aspects of our church life. Openness is evident in our worship and in our outreach efforts, which encompasses over twenty-five programs throughout the year. Our extensive Church School program and adult education classes frequently explore the beliefs of others so that we may understand and strengthen our faith backgrounds. Finally, we always remember to connect with each other. Whether it is at Coffee Hour after worship each Sunday, a book discussion, a Family Fun night, the Church Fair or other church event, we hold each other in our hearts
