Founded in 1815, Scottsville, Kentucky's progressive community offers small-town hospitality with access to metropolitan amenities. In 1939 J.L. Turner and his son Cal opened their first wholesale store, which later blossomed into the idea of Dollar General. where no item was to be sold over a dollar. The first store to be convert into a Dollar General store was the Turner Department store in Springfield, KY in 1955.
