SFC
offers the local
community the opportunity to preserve special places for future
generations through voluntary action. The Sierra Foothill
Conservancy was established in 1996 to provide local, community-based support
and management for two outstanding foothill properties: the McKenzie Table
Mountain Preserve and the Mary Elizabeth Miller Preserve at Black Mountain.
SFC makes its properties available to the
public on a supervised basis with classes,
guided hikes, and special
events. Mission statement - The
grasslands, foothills, and forests between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National
Parks provide land for farms and ranches, a home for native plants and
wildlife, and a source of clean water. The Sierra Foothill Conservancy
honors our natural and cultural heritage by protecting these resources and
ensuring that present and future generations will continue to experience and
enjoy the land in this region.
