Simi Elementary is located in Simi Valley, California within the Simi Valley Unified School District.  Simi Elementary, the first school established in the district 84 years ago, is rich with tradition from the past as we "Create a World of Learners." Our historical school (1926-2010) serves the community as it always has as a community center.

Simi Elementary has 357 students consisting of 343 general and 14 special education (Deaf and Hard of Hearing DHH) students.  Our student population consists of 67% White, 3% African American, 26% Hispanic, 3% Asian, 0% American Indian, 1% Filipino, and 0% Pacific Islander.  140 students receive a free or reduced lunch.  That is 39% of our school population.  Fifty-eight students are second language learners or 16%.

In addition to the general education program, the diverse educational environment includes special classes for hearing-impaired students.   We are one of two schools in Ventura County that serves the DHH population.   We also serve our community with the Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE).

The small student population contributes to a "family-type atmosphere" as we focus on building knowledge, responsibility, self-esteem and community. The curriculum is enhanced through weekly visits to the library and our state-of-the art Lenovo Computer Lab, as well as numerous enrichment assemblies provided by the PTA. Student Council, Variety Show, Signing Class, Music Van, and December Holiday Performance provide important extra-curricular activities. Home-school communication is ongoing through a weekly UPDATE and the PTA newsletter. Community involvement is evident through the business partnership and classroom service projects. The responsibility for education is shared among students, staff, parents and community. Together we make Simi Elementary School an exciting place to learn!
