Smethport is the county seat of McKean County in Northwestern Pennsylvania. It is home to 1500 residents. The town was founded in 1811 and grew quickly. Many Victorian style homes can be seen in the town's Mansion District.
Smethport Area School District consists of the Smethport Borough, Hamlin Township, Keating Township, Norwich Township, and Sergeant Township. Within the district's 344 square miles is Smethport Area Elementary School and Smethport Area Junior-Senior High School, both located on one campus in Smethport Borough. The High School offers academic and business courses and well as off campus vocational programs.
