The Soroptimist International of the San Tan Club is actively recruiting women in the East Valley who are interested in becoming more involved with their community. Members of the San Tans support service projects and programs that aim to improve the lives of women and families. Some of the agencies it supports include My Sister's Place shelter for battered/abused women, the House of Refuge East homeless shelter and the Chandler Christian Center food and clothing center for the disadvantaged. The Club also raises funds to give scholarships to women facing obstacles so that they can continue their training or retraining. Funds have also been given to residents of homeless shelters to cover the costs of obtaining their GED certification and to disadvantaged women for free mammograms. You can also find out more information about the club at http://www.sisantans.org/santans/
The San Tans is a local chapter of the world's largest service organization for executive and professional women. It meets weekly at noon on Thursdays at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Resort, 1 San Marcos Place, Chandler.
