The mission of the South Harrison School District is to prepare our students to become confident, capable life-long learners and problem solvers by providing learning experiences which foster the intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth necessary to become responsible, productive members of a culturally and economically diverse society. Toward this end, the South Harrison School District will work together in partnership with the staff, home and community to foster a safe, caring, academically challenging and supportive environment.
There are two classes at each grade level in grades Kindergarten through 5 and three classes for grade 6. There are two half day sessions of Kindergarten. The Board of Education is committed to retaining small class sizes to ensure a maximum degree of individual attention, leading to close student-teacher relationships and fostering a healthy learning environment.
The experienced teaching staff strives to help each student develop strong academic skills within a framework of steady emotional growth and positive self image. The basic program of instruction includes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, library and technology.
