History:

South Hialeah Elementary Community School was the first school built in Hialeah. The school was designed by prominent architect, Walter C. de Garmo, in a Spanish Colonialist Revivalist style which was popular in the 1920's. It was built in 1923 and first opened its doors on February 14, 1924.

The classrooms surround a courtyard that holds a giant ficus tree about as old as the school itself.

Civic leaders like Senator Bob Graham and his brother Bill attended this grand old school. This historical landmark continues to teach thousands daily in a great tradition.

Today, South Hialeah holds its original beauty as the staff continues to maintain and enhance the uniqueness it was built to portra.
