About Us:
We are farmers, teachers, bankers, students, factory workers, soldiers, homemakers, accountants, secretaries, mechanics, doctors, business men, mothers, children, grandfathers, and retirees. We are the local body of Christ, one of His churches. As such we assemble together as believers to carry out the Great Commission of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
We are created in the image of God and are called to love God with everything we've got. Since we love Him, we will demonstrate the sacrificial love of Christ to others. We are ordinary people extraordinarily saved by the grace of God through Jesus' death on the cross.
Southside is a church that welcomes every person, regardless of race, sex, age, culture, or creed. In welcoming you, we also want to teach the truths that are made evident in the Scriptures. These truths are God-breathed, and are given to teach, to point out where we are wrong in our lives, to correct us, and to properly equip us to do God's work (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We stand upon the authority of the Bible. We preach it, teach it, and live it to the best of our abilities.
As a church, we focus on helping others find the Light of the World, Jesus Christ. We serve meals, go on mission trips, visit, pray for others' needs, encourage one another, study the Bible, lend support in various ways, share the Gospel, and seek to make our city and area a better place to live and raise a family. We are planted in Alma, AR, located in Crawford County, but we believe that through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit we can affect our entire world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We welcome you to join us in our worship of God, as well as our working toward the fulfillment of the Great Comission (Matt. 28:18-20).
Our Belief:
The Holy Bible is the divinely inspired record of God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its content.
God is One, the only living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal being; the Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness. He is perfect in all ways. To Him we owe the highest reverence, obedience, honor, and praise. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. God is all powerful, all loving, and all wise. He is the Father to those who become children of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ, God the Son, is the eternal son of God. In His incarnation, He was born of the virgin Mary and identified Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He was raised bodily from the grave by the power of God, and makes available by grace the gift of eternal life to all who come to Him through faith.
The Holy Spirit exalts Christ, convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He effects regeneration as He calls individuals to the Savior. He continues a sanctifying work in the believer, producing holiness of life and power of service.
All people have sinned and consequently must be regenerated by the working of God's grace through the agency of the Holy Spirit. God loves all people, and thus, every person possesses dignity and worth, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. Justification is by faith. Regeneration is a work of God's grace whereby the Holy Spirit makes a believer a new creature in Jesus Christ.
The New Testament Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing two ordinances: believer's baptism by full immersion and the Lord's Supper.
The second coming of Jesus Christ is imminent and is the purifying hope of His church, giving a sense of urgency in preaching the Gospel to all mankind.
God is the source of all blessings. All that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians have a binding stewardship in their possessions. They are called to serve God with their time, talents, and material prosperity, and should recognize all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and for helping others.
