Mission Statement:
SWPCA gathers to worship and serve the triune god; to receive grace, and so live by faith as christ's ambassadors in the world.
Christ has gathered His people for a mission and given them the means to accomplish it.
The church's mission is to gather all who will place their faith in Christ as their Savior and nurture them so that they grow in His grace.
We gather, because Christ has called us by His Word and Spirit. The church exists because Christ speaks in His Word. The Bible is the only authority for Christian faith. It is the only authority for Christian living, both as a community and as individuals.
We gather, by grace received through faith. Sinners are reconciled to God by faith that rests and receives the blessings of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. Such faith actively lives, freed from sin and death, the godless world, and Satan's schemes. From the first to last salvation and growth in Christ is by grace through faith.
We gather, desiring to give Christ our hearts and lives. We seek to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice of worship to God (Romans 12:1-2) in this earthy-life, as we look forward to life-eternal with God.
The means Christ gave the church to accomplish His purposes are His Word (The Bible) and Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper) and Prayer. These are spiritually powerful because the Spirit of the Resurrected Christ works through His people as they minister with these spiritual 'weapons'.
Jesus prayed,
I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. (John 17:15-18 )
God gathers the church and sends her back into the world; spiritually alive by His grace. Jesus saves sinners and sanctifies them for a holy purpose in the midst of a sinful and dying world. Worship and mission are gifts of grace as well as holy responsibilities. Our mission is to gratefully receive and then faithfully labor to enjoy all the graces and responsibilities of serving Christ.
