St. James Day School is the premier private preparatory school in the four-states area.  The School was founded in 1948 and is accredited by SAES, NAES, & TANS.  It serves a population of children aged 3 to 5 for preschool, and grades 1 through 6.  St. James is the only school in Texarkana that provides a primer bridge class for advanced kindergarten students or those who need another year before starting first grade.  By including 6th grade in its elementary grade structure, students are much better equipped to move into the public school secondary environment at 7th grade. St. James is known for the high percentage of its 6th grade graduates who have become the valedictorians, salutatorians, and honor graduates of local high schools for over 60 years. It is a small school nestled on 25 acres of natural wooded land which provides a safe, nurturing environment that educates the whole child in a Christian atmosphere.  The School is affiliated with the Episcopal Church and welcomes students of all races and religious dominations.
