About
St. John's affirms the Holy Scriptures of the New and Old Testaments to be the revealed Word of God, "containing all things necessary for salvation," and as being the rule and ultimate standard of faith.
Our mission and vision is centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We preach Christ and him crucified, celebrating the triumph of his grace for sinners.
We confess and affirm both the Apostles' and Nicene creeds of the historic church as "sufficient statements of the Christian faith."
We are guided in our worship by the rites and liturgies prescribed in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.
We especially affirm the Historical Documents of the Church, found in the Book of Common Prayer, namely, the statement of the Council of Chalcedon (451 AD), The Creed of St. Athanasius, The Preface to the 1549 Edition of the Book of Common Prayer, The 39 Articles of Religion and Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral of 1886 & 1888.
We are affiliated with The Episcopal Church in the Diocese of East Carolina.
