The Chamber of Commerce Executive Board is made up of local business people who serve a three-year term. They meet on the fourth Monday of every month. Currently Josh Gilmore is the president. Inquiries can be made at (620) 278-3727 or send an email to Cheryl Buckman.
The Chamber of Commerce helps promote the growth of local business. Because of the quality of life in Sterling, it is not hard to sell to businesses seeking to relocate. The chamber has “ambassadors” who help make any arrangements to meet the need of prospective businesses, from making hotel arrangements to helping with real estate needs.
Many Fridays throughout the year, there is a Chamber coffee hosted by a local business open to the entire community. These are printed on the front page of the Sterling Bulletin, a weekly paper.
The chamber hosts four major community events each year. The Old Fashioned Fourth of July is several days of family fun that draws people from all over. The bi-annual Broadway Arts & Food Fair offers artists a chance to show and sell, and it gives the public a chance to take part in a celebration of art. The Warrior Fest is a time to gather downtown and celebrate with Sterling College. Finally, the Old Fashioned Christmas is a visit from Santa to kick off downtown activities for the Christmas season.
