Located in rural west Marin County, the Stinson Beach County Water District was formed in 1962. The district provides water and wastewater management services for the Stinson Beach community.Once the raw water reaches the treatment facility, it is processed by a CPC/Microfloc multi-media filtration system. The filtration system consists of two parallel filters, each rated at 100 gallons per minute (gpm), for a total plant capacity of 200 gpm. Chemicals introduced prior to filtration are aluminum sulfate for coagulation and polymer to aid in coagulation. Sodium hypochlorite (chlorine) is added prior and post filtration for required disinfection. The coagulants and polymers are filtered out prior to delivery to the consumer.
