Welcome to Suffern Middle School. The staff at SMS strive to provide a challenging environment that inspires students to become educated, confident and responsible young adults. This challenge can only be accomplished through the collaborative efforts of parents, students, faculty, staff and community. Middle school years are a time of transition for students. It is also a time of physical, emotional and intellectual growth. Students struggle with two selves: the public self which wants to fit into a group and the private self which grapples with personal identity. It is our job, as parents and educators, to create a safe environment which helps students clarify their identity and develop a sense of empowerment while striving for personal excellence.
