The Sunrise Montessori House offers an exciting and enriching atmosphere that follows an authentic Montessori approach to education. Our classroom is located in our home, giving children a sense of comfort and security as they approach each new day of discovery. The Montessori Method The Montessori method of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago. It is built on a deep respect for children and their learning styles. She observed that children are natural learners and when given the right environment and materials they will work to achieve their personal best. A Montessori education combines the academic elements of math, language and cultural studies with the education of the senses, and activities in practical living. The Sunrise Montessori House emphasizes activities that promote growth in becoming independent, responsible, respectful, caring individuals as active members of a peaceful community. The children move freely throughout the environment selecting materials that have been presented to them - materials that lead to self discovery. The multi-age grouping provides opportunities for all children to have positive interactions, and enables the teacher to create a flexible learning method tailored to the needs of the individual child.
