About Us:
Sycamore Springs Farm is a family owned Choose and Cut Christmas Tree Farm located atop the beautiful Cumberland Plateau near Allardt in Northeastern Middle Tennessee. Situated near the old English settlement of Rugby and the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, the farm has acres of native forests and trails as well as the only American Chestnut Foundation Nursery on the Plateau. The name for the farm comes from a magnificent Sycamore tree which grows at the top of one of the many springs on the property. A hundred years ago the mail road from Elgin/Rugby to Jamestown came across our land. The mail carriers would stop their wagons at our spring to water the mules. One day a driver stuck his switch down in the spring and forgot it there. The switch sprouted and grew into the huge Sycamore tree that still stands today.
Sycamore Springs is open to the public with educational programs, hayrides, pumpkin patches, games, activities, and the Tennessee Trail through the forest for group field trips and family fun. We have 4' to 10' White Pine, Scotch Pine, Norway Spruce, and Leyland Cypress to choose and cut. We have these varieties of balled-and-burlapped trees to plant later. We will also have pre-cut Fraser and Canaan Fir trees from East Tennessee. Fresh greenery wreaths and garlands made on site will be available. The Choose and Cut Christmas Tree operation started ten years ago with the first planting of trees has diversified into a two season agritourism venture which includes fall produce, decorating services, educational field trips, family fun, a barrel train ride, pumpkin patches, hayrides, nature walks, wildlife plots, and venues for birthday parties, tea parties, reunions, club meetings, and catering services. The Party Porch can accommodate up to 75-80 with picnic tables outside while the multipurpose room can seat up to around 50 inside. Inside The Treehouse is a small gift shop. In the fall Sycamore Springs Farm has pure sorghum molasses and honey available for sale.
We are committed to educating children and families about the importance of agriculture, conservation, and forestry in our daily lives in a fun setting on the farm and in the forest. Sycamore Springs is a certified American Tree Farm devoted to preserving our woodlands, water, and wildlife in an educational and recreational setting.
