History:
When Temple Junior College opened its doors in 1926, five instructors and 97 students were there to usher in a new era in higher education for Central Texas. Now, 83 years later, Temple College has an enrollment of 4,787 with a full-time faculty of 98.
From its humble beginnings in the basement of the local high school, through today, Temple College has offered quality education at an affordable cost. The college strives to serve the needs of students with varying backgrounds and interests. TC is known for academic excellence, a commitment to the arts, and outstanding technical education programs.
The Temple College Foundation was created in 1982 with financial contributions from two faculty members. It has since grown to include an endowment of over five million dollars and completed an eight million dollar capital campaign for restoration of the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center and other building projects.
