Our Beliefs:
The following list represents the foundational beliefs of the church and the Southern Baptist faith:
The Bible: We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible and inspired Word of God. It was written by the Holy Spirit through divinely inspired men. All scripture contained within its pages is timeless in nature and is applicable to all generations. As the written Word of God, it is the basis by which we should govern every aspect of our lives.
God: There is only one true God and He is the God of the Bible. As the Bible states, He is the Triune God comprised of: God the Father, God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit. God is all knowing (omniscient), all powerful (omnipotent) and is present all around us (omnipresent). He is not equaled by any power. He is a loving and caring God who is actively involved in His creation.
His Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth and lived a sinless human life as God incarnate. Christ came as the ultimate sacrifice for sin so that those who would believe in Him would have eternal life. We believe that Christ died on the cross and rose again on the 3rd day.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who was sent to mankind to create, to comfort and to convict among other things. He enlightens the hearts and minds of each believer and intercedes for us with groaning which cannot be understood.
Humanity: Men and women are the special creation of God; created in His own image for His divine purpose. Since the introduction of sin through Adam and Eve, all men and women have sinned.
Salvation: When sin entered the world through the first man and woman, God initially required a sacrifice from His people to atone for those sins. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He served as the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all people. This gift, given by our Father in heaven, may be accepted if we only admit that we have sinned, believe that Christ died for those sins, and confess that Christ is Lord over our lives. When someone is saved, they are reborn/regenerated and are a new creature through Jesus Christ. This is a result of the Holy Spirit's presence in the lives of believers, convicting them of sin and anything that would separate them from God. As Christians, we should remember that faith without works is dead, however salvation is not a result of our good work.
Baptism: Baptism is an act of obedience involving complete immersion of the believer in water in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. It does not result in salvation nor is it a requirement for salvation. Instead, it symbolizes the believer's death to sin and the belief in a risen Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Lord's Supper: As an act of remembrance of Christ's final meal with His disciples, Christians partake of bread and the fruit of the vine during the Lord's Supper to commemorate Jesus' sacrifice and to anticipate His second coming.
The Lord's Day: Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week following His crucifixion. As such, Christians today celebrate His resurrection by worshiping and praising Him on this day.
The Family: Countless Biblical examples show us that the family was the first and foundational unit of human society. As such, all related aspects should be preserved, including marriage and human life.
