About Us:
Falmouth Academy's emphasis on the fine and performing arts encourages students to strive for a Renaissance approach to life. The arts at FA cross disciplines and traditional boundaries. The entire school is a gallery for as many as 60 changing student exhibits a year in painting, drawing, furniture making, sculpture, photography and mixed media. FA has had an influence in the arts which extends far beyond its campus. Falmouth Academy is the founder of the New England Small Schools Art League (SISAL) and co-founder of Falmouth's Arts on the Hill. The school is home to the 2003 Arts Educator of the Year for Massachusetts, a 26-piece student classical orchestra which has toured Germany twice, as well as several other student jazz and classical ensembles which perform off-campus at community events. We are the summer home of the Cape Cod Theater Project and the Colorado Quartet.
Using Computer Aided Design, students in the Stagecraft electives design and build sets for the school's black-box theater in the school wood shop. The drama department mounts classical productions four times a year.
Courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry-making, and photography are offered during the day and after school.
Student music groups include the Hot Days Jazz Band, the Cool Nights Jazz Band, the Honors Brass Ensemble, Chorus, Community Chorus, Chamber Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra.
