Mission Statement

The Historical Society was founded in 1980 for the purpose of educating the Long Beach Community and the public about Long Beach's unique historical heritage as a barrier island community 23 miles from New York City, and to preserve its architectural structures. It's charter, issued by the State of New York, includes commitments to promote and encourage original historical research, as well as the suitable marking of places of historic interest. During the past few years the Society's vigor has become increasingly evident through its expanded programs.
