From the mountains and valleys of Southeast Tennessee, North Georgia, and North Alabama, come some of the finest talents of traditional, mountain, and bluegrass music. As natural to the region as the streams and woodlands that grace the mountains and farmlands, this native musical art is pure and unspoiled as the scenic beauty of the region.
The Mountain Opry was formed to provide greater exposure and accessibility to the musical culutre of the area. The Mountain Opry, a non-profit organization chartered by the state of Tennessee, is dedicated to the preservation of the musical art that is indigenous to the area.
Those who gather every Friday evening enjoy the music, musicians, and each other, with a common interest that brings people together, inspite of differences in social, econmic, age, and cultural backgrounds. Musicians are provided the opportunity to exchange their unique musical art and heritage. The music and fun is spontaneous, informal, and set in a wholesome family atmosphere.
