An olive branch has long been a symbol of peace, deriving from the olive leaf which a dove carried back to Noah to mark the end of the universal flood (Genesis 8:11). We call our worship gathering The Olive Branch because it represents the restored relationship human beings can have with their Creator through Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17; Romans 10:9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6). The olive branch metaphor extends also to our relationships with other people, symbolizing the peace and restoration we can have with other human beings through Jesus Christ.
