Tides is a peer, grief support program offered at no charge to families who have lost a loved one. Tides believes that when a death occurs within a family, it impacts everyone. How each member grieves though is very individualized. As a result, Tides strives to provide peer support to the entire family from young children to grandparents. During a Tides night, small groups provide individuals the opportunity to share or listen to others who are either close in age (such as in the children and teen groups), or who have experienced a similar loss (adult groups). Tides does not provide counseling, but rather a safe place to be in the presence of others walking on similar grief journeys. This is the beauty of the Tides program.
Our mission is to provide safe and nurturing peer support programming for children, teens and their families who have experienced the death of a loved one.
Tides also raises awareness of the needs of grieving children in our schools and surrounding communities.
In addition to peer support groups, Tides provides referral services, adult telephone support, educational resources for grieving children and families, and resources for schools and other professionals in the community who work with children.
