The Usonian Inn LLC, originally named the Rest Haven Motel, was the first Highway lodging between Madison and LaCrosse WI on US Hwy 14. Our Hotel was conceived in 1948, and open for business in 1952, refurbished in 1992, and gone under more designer makeover sessions into the 21st century to enhance the organic features.
The Usonian style, as conceived by Frank Lloyd Wright, is "architecture for everyone," combining readily available materials and straight-forward construction in harmony with the natural settings; nowadays known as passive solar or sustainable concept. We are the ONE AND ONLY Usonian Motel in the world.
Established in 1948, the property was erected under the watchful eyes of the Master - the world's most famous architect - Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Usonian Inn is Spring Green's first original Taliesin inspired inn, and the ONE and ONLY USONIAN - architectural style - Motel in the World. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright's apprentice, Jesse Claude Caraway; the project started in 1948 and It's been in operation since 1952; after it has gone under some refurbishing phases & some makeovers sessions, now is offering accommodations for the 21st century's needs; it's fresh, crisp, modernized and much more functional.
Property was recently listed on the National and Wisconsin State Register of
Historic Places under the original name of Rest Heaven Motel.
