Tonto Rim Sports Club


The Tonto Rim Sports Club Inc was established in 1979, and is affiliated with the National Rifle Association, and the Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association.

The purpose of the Club is to educate and encourage organized shooting among United States citizens of the area, with a focus on better knowledge of the safe handling and proper care of firearms, as well as improved marksmanship. It is a further purpose of the Club to foster the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play and self-reliance. These are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of patriotism.

The Club is a Not-for-Profit Corporation organized under IRC Section 501(c)(4). The Club maintains and manages the Jim Jones Shooting Range, and provides the management of the range facilities. The range is located on 80 acres south of Payson Arizona on National Forest Systems Land and operated under a joint agreement with the Tonto National Forest, Payson Ranger District and the Gila County Range Commission.

The Club produces a monthly newsletter and provides a number of invitational organized monthly competitions. The Club has regular Monthly Meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Payson American Legion building, and all guests are welcome.

Any citizen of the United States may become a member of the Club by completing a membership application, subscribing to the NRA Pledge, completing a signed Range Orientation form with a Range Safety Officer, and payment of annual dues.

THE RANGE IS OPEN TO MEMBERS 24/7. RANGE IS OPEN TO PUBLIC EVERY SATURDAY FROM 9-5PM. THE PUBLIC IS ALSO INVITED TO ATTEND SHOOTING EVENTS AT THE RANGE. REVIEW THE EVENT CALANDER FOR SCHEDULE TIMES.
