Town Center Elementary School, a K-3 building with over 700 students, opened in September 2002 and is fortunate to be part of a diverse and multicultural community in Plainsboro. This is truly an advantage as it works toward the goal of preparing students for success in our rapidly changing world. Our diversity enriches programs as well as the students’ school experience. The students and staff at Town Center Elementary School enthusiastically take advantage of our technology capabilities and the many resources that are available. This includes global connection via the Internet to student computers, a fully equipped computer lab, and an intra-school cable broadcast system. Town Center students participate in a live television news program that is broadcast three times each week.
Town Center Elementary School’s core values, love of learning, character development, and interpersonal relationships, influence the teaching and learning environment throughout the school. Learning is valued and cherished as a life-long commitment. To foster and develop this value, Town Center Elementary School provides a secure and open atmosphere that supports diversity and welcomes inquiry.
The school believes that developing positive character traits will empower students throughout their lives and staff members work closely with parents to enhance and strengthen the educational program.
The professional commitment and collegiality of the staff is a continuing strength. They are committed to the learning of students and to promoting the self-confidence, integrity, responsibility, and respect that support this learning. The annual Fall Fest not only celebrates the harvest tradition but also provides a meaningful opportunity for service learning. The Literacy Celebration, Science Fair, MathMagic Week, and Gatoraide Leadership Program in third grade are among the events and programs that provide students with ways to develop their potential in many areas.
Town Center Elementary School has made excellent progress in effectively aligning curriculum areas with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. We take pride in being an active learning community that encompasses students, faculty, and parents.
