About Us:
The Town of Chelmsford. Chelmsford is a scenic, bedroom community with close proximity to Boston, the Atlantic coastline and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Our school system is ranked among the best in the state. Chelmsford was voted in the top 100 Best Places to Live by Money Magazine several times over the last several years.
Chelmsford was founded in 1655, as a farming community. Our historic buildings and Forefather's Burial Grounds are cherished by the community. The Old Town Hall and the North Town Hall have been completely restored for community use. We have finished the restoration of the town clock which is housed in the steeple of the First Parish Church, the site of our first town meeting. We value and preserve our open space. There are two town beaches and many trail systems in Chelmsford. These properties are maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. The Town of Chelmsford is strong in volunteering and community engagement.
