Town History:

Paradise is nestled in the foothills of Northern California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.  The Butte County community sits astride a ridge top with elevations ranging from 2,000 to 2,800 feet above the valley floor.  Our climate and location allows residents and visitors to enjoy an array of tall pines and majestic oaks, cooler summertime temperatures, occasional winter snowfalls, and an engaging environment.

Paradise is the second largest city in Butte County, and is part of the Chico-Paradise metropolitan area.  Paradise was incorporated in 1979, and it is home to nearly 27,000 residents.  The neighboring communities of Magalia, Paradise Pines, Lovelock, Stirling City, and Inskip add nearly another 25,000 residents, as well as a colorful Gold Rush history and even more awesome natural beauty.

Chico, the county's largest city, is a short scenic drive from Paradise.  The 10-mile jaunt offers panoramic views of Butte Creek Canyon - known to the locals as Little Grand Canyon - and sweeping vistas from the foothills to the Coast Range to the west and Mt. Lassen to the North.

On your way to Paradise from the nearby City of Oroville, you can drop the boat at Lime Saddle Marina and cruise Lake Oroville or wet your line in the Feather River.  You can also meander along Riverbend Park or marvel at the cultural beauty of the Chinese Temple Garden.

Paradise is a short drive from the Bay Area and the Sacramento region.  The drive takes you along historic and scenic highways 70 and 99, and past the orchards and rice fields.  A spring time drive along the Blossom Tour is a must see.

Rich in history, innate beauty, and friendly people, Paradise is a fantastic place to raise a family, build a business, or just relax for a weekend in the pines.
