The small town appeal of White Stone belongs to its eclectic assortment of charming shops and businesses. There’s something for everyone including a wide variety of art galleries, antique shops, a unique market, gourmet wine shop and bistro, boutiques, restaurants, an upscale coffee house, local theatre and much, much more, all within an easy stroll.
Nestled on the southern tip of Virginia’s Northern Neck and bounded by the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay in historic Lancaster County, White Stone is a small town sprinkled with unexpected pleasures. It’s the Southern Gateway to the Northern Neck.
It’s easy to see why Lancaster County ranked #7 as “Best Places to Live in Rural America” in the 2006 edition of the Progressive Farmer magazine. It offers quiet living, low crime, good education, and modern health care. For seafood lovers, this is the place to be. Fishermen bring in some of the best seafood to be had, including our famous blue crab. Much of the year you can also buy locally grown fruits and vegetables at roadside stands.
The pace of life in White Stone is slow and easy, but there’s much to do including fishing, boating, or a leisurely walk on the beach. You can visit Belle Isle State Park, Mary Ball Museum, Stratford Hall, George Washington’s Birth Place, or historic Christ Church, all within a short drive. Need a place to stay? There are nearby motels and the Tides Inn, one of the top resort spas in the country. We also have functions that draw crowds, like our Rappahannock Waterfowl Show sponsored by the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department.
It’s one of the most popular waterfoul shows on the East Coast and attracts people from near and far. The White Stone Business Association Annual Golf Tournament and Dickens Festival, are sponsored by the White Stone Business Association. White Stone merchants have special functions during the holiday season to make your gift shopping a pleasurable experience.
