About Us:
Youngtown, considered "America's First Retirement Community" was founded in 1954 when real estate broker Ben Schleifer and banker Clarence Suggs purchased land from a dairy ranch.
Youngtown was incorporated in 1960 and became the first city occupied soley by senior citizens. Another first for Youngtown in 1960 was becoming Chapter 1 of AARP.
In 1998, the age restriction was lifted allowing all ages to reside in Youngtown. Since that time, Youngtown has grown into community that still has that tranquil, small town feel while providing a broad range of facilities including a library, clubhouse, five parks, and a lake.
