Our History

Trinity Community Church of San Rafael was founded in 1937, and has been affiliated with the Assemblies of God since 1942. We are a Pentecostal congregation, relying on the presence, gifts, and activity of the Holy Spirit to build our love for Jesus Christ and empower our service for Him. The church began in an apartment east of the railroad tracks, under the leadership of a female graduate from Glad Tidings Bible Institute in San Francisco (now Bethany University of Santa Cruz, CA). When they outgrew her living room, they rented a Fourth Street storefront on the west side of downtown.
In the mid-50s, the church moved to a home of its own at 517 D Street, expanding to a house across the street for Sunday School classes.

In 1972, under the leadership of Rev. Reuben Sequeira, the church relocated to 1675 Grand Avenue, the former site of the Marist Fathers Seminary.

Our present pastor, Rev. William Nelken, has served here since 1984.
We are a growing, progressive congregation, with a purpose to make a significant impact in the Marin community with the good news of Jesus Christ. We invite you to become a part of this history-making journey with us.
