We, the members of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, commit ourselves to build and maintain a religious community based on trust. We will take collective and individual responsibility for the joyful potential of our relationships, the quality of our congregational life, the stewardship of our resources, and for compassionate service in the world.
In order to realize our Vision, it shall be our mission to encourage and assist one another in each of the following ways:
Build positive relationships, based on trust, demonstrating respect in every way possible for individual uniqueness and the right of each person to develop spiritual, social and aesthetic beliefs freely in a safe and supportive environment.
Build an open, diverse and inclusive community of people who use collaborative skills as a means for making decisions and resolving differences.
Seek leadership from those who cherish inclusiveness, who are skilled in building consensus, and who teach others through delegating responsibilities and providing leadership opportunities.
Provide educational opportunities for every person to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to participate in an evolving UUCSR community.
Encourage religious appreciation and wonder for what is known and unknowable; for that which connects us to one another and the universe and inspires us to strive for our highest ideals.
Demonstrate our commitment to the Principles of Unitarian Universalism and to its institutions.
