Since 1951, concerned citizens have rallied annually to support the community through United Way. The goal to help people in need has not changed over the more than 50 years we have been in existence. Today, United Way does more than any one donor or charity can do alone. Individual investors who want to make a real impact by improving the quality of life for area residents, and therefore build a stronger community, are making a difference everyday.

United Way of Knox County is moving toward a system of measurement that gauges community impact – the number of lives touched and the results achieved as a result of donor investments made in United Way’s work.

In assessing community needs United Way researches community issues and then works to craft community solutions, leverage funding and other resources, and then invest in programs that get results. We measure our successes by the lives we change, not just the number of services we provide
