United Way dedicates its support to local charities. The Board of local concerned leaders evaluate United Way member agencies to ensure contributed dollars are well spent to help the needy of St. Mary's County.
It takes all of us working together to nuture vital charity work in our community. United Way of St. Mary's County is an independent, local non-profit organization supported by donations. Community members serve on the volunteer Board of Directors. Nearly 5000 citizens volunteer with our 39 member agencies.
United Way also provides an annual countywide Day of Caring volunteer project, and offers referrals to county residents in need.
Local member agencies use United Way funds for services that directly help St. Mary's County residents: The hungry are fed; the homeless receive shelter; the sick are comforted; our children flourish; our neighborhoods are made safe...and much more.
Your tax deductible gift to United Way of St. Mary's County supports human care services of 40 local United Way member agancies. Many of these worthwhile charities alone could not garner the contributions they receive as a result of their United Way association. The United Way umbrella ensures these agencies receive their fair share of needed benefits so they can devote more resources to providing direct services to people in need.
Founded in 1998, the Society recognizes the generosity and salutes the vision of these individuals. A leadership gift may be pledged through a workplace giving campaign or made directly to United Way.
