About Us:
Early in the nineteenth century, Norwegian immigrants settled on a sparsely populated Vashon Island. When their homes were built, they turned to the construction of churches - places of worship and study for themselves and their children. Seattle Lutherans, both German and Norwegian congregations, established missions on the island as well. As the years passed, the Lutherans on Vashon Island consolidated into a single congregation that is now Vashon Lutheran Church.
Today we are a diverse group. Our congregational personality reflects the best of the Christian traditions that we members bring to this community of Christ. Although we are proud of our history, we boast only of our Lord Christ and the work of witness and service and worship He accomplishes among and through us. Above all, we are a creation of the Holy Spirit, who ""calls, gathers, enlightens and sanctifies"" Gods children here.
So, for Lutherans and every other Christian tradition that we bring to our fellowship, for the opportunity to be Lutheran Christians together on Vashon Island, we give God thanks and praise.
