First established in 1818, the Village of Hamel, Illinois became an incorporated village on February 24, 1955. Throughout the years, residents have seen the town grow with the addition of businesses and residential development. Security is insured by the Village police force and an excellent lighting system designed by Illinois Power Company, the supplier of power and natural gas in the village limits.
