Mission:

VSSA supports many shooting disciplines including junior air rifle, shotgun, pistol and high power rifle. As the official state organization for the NRA, we are responsible for conducting state level shooting championships and selecting the "best of the best" to represent Virginia in the individual and team competition at Camp Perry, Ohio. These "Team Virginia" members are selected from individual members of VSSA and affiliated clubs.

VSSA also promotes hunting. As part of our legislative efforts we work to protect all shooting sports from the anti-gun and anti-hunting crowd.

VSSA annually sponsors the national longest running charity shooting events of its type with the proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  It is also the longest running shooting event supporting St. Jude.
