WakeMed Apex Healthplex features a 24/7 full-service emergency department backed by Cary Hospital, WakeMed Children's, Wake County's only Level 1 Trauma Center and staffed by board-certified physicians who are trained to handle both adult and pediatric emergencies.
The Emergency Department staff treats walk-in patients and patients who are brought in through local EMS by ambulance.  An on-site helipad is a landing site for transport of patients who need to be air lifted to another facility.
The Apex Healthplex Emergency Department includes:
-12 private treatment rooms, including four dedicated rooms just for kids
-Two private rooms for patient triage
-Imaging equipment, including x-ray, CT scan, Open Bore MRI and ultrasound
-An ambulance receiving area
-Patient reception and waiting rooms
