The Water Valley School District has as its mission to provide every child an appropriate educational program to meet his or her particular needs. The program will be designed to provide each child the opportunity to develop to his or her greatest potential socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically.

It is the school's opinion that education should prepare a child for life, beginning at the simplest level, spirally building concepts and skills to a complex level. We plan to achieve this goal by offering the best academic and vocational educational programs possible. We also believe a vital part of our mission is to establish a school program which reflects the values, needs, and ambitions of our community.

To promote its mission, the district has established this goal

To provide special consideration to those basic skills necessary for functioning effectively in our society

by:

• Providing adequate instructional time through a climate conducive to learning
• Providing written instructional objectives, materials, supplies, and support services needed for the basic skills instruction in every academic and vocational subject at each grade level
• Evaluating student mastery of specified instructional objectives
• Basic decisions regarding grading, promotion, retention, and graduation upon student performance of instructional objectives
