Waterloo Elementary School is a wonderful place for learning. Parents, staff and community work collaboratively to ensure student success. We have an active PTA and welcome greater involvement. Parents are our partners in the education process and are strongly encouraged to attend parent workshops and meetings. Additional assistance with meeting our school goals is provided by our business partner, Rapid Sign. Waterloo receives further support as a Professional Development School with the University of Maryland.
Our students benefit from the rigorous Howard County curriculum, and have additional opportunities to participate in the Gifted and Talented Program and Student Council, to name a few. Furthermore, our students thrive in the many after-school clubs that are offered. Students can take advantage of computer, chess, science, homework club, cheerleading, and sports, that are offered on-site. In addition, Waterloo is one of three elementary schools in Howard
County that accommodates the needs of special education students who are identified as emotionally disturbed. We also are one of 15 schools that have a Regional Early Childhood Center (RECC) for special needs infants and toddlers. Support is provided for the students’ success in both programs through a well coordinated effort from our professional staff.
Waterloo’s school community shares a vision for high student achievement for all students. We have a strong commitment for collaboration and together provide the best education for each child. We consistently strive for continuous improvement and celebrate student success.
