The West Hempstead Fire Department was organized in 1919 and is located in West Hempstead, Long Island, New York, at 295 Hempstead Turnpike. The all volunteer fire department operates out a 1 centrally located fire station with a membership of 80 trained firefighters and EMS personnel. Fire headquarters houses 3 – Class A Pumper’s, 1 – 107’ Rear Mount Ladder Truck, 1 – Heavy Rescue, 2 – Advanced Life Support Ambulances, a Fire Police Van, a 1931 Antique City Service Ladder Parade Vehicle, Class B & Class C Hose Carrier’s and several utility vehicles.

The department hosts the Emergency Operations Center of the 7th. Battalion, and is outfitted with communications equipment, and other necessary equipment and supplies that will assist our neighboring departments as well as the other 8 Fire Battalions in Nassau County during special events, storms, or disasters as required or requested.
