West Point Elementary was formally part of the City of West Point School System that consolidated with the Troup County System in 1986. Known then as West Point Junior High School and later as West Point Elementary, it housed grades 4 through 7 until consolidation. Before 1970, it was known as Harrison High School, home of the Yellowjackets, and served the African-American population of West Point, Georgia.
