Our school is a warm and lively place where our students build a strong foundation for school and for life. We are a school in which children and teachers are active learners. We offer a balanced approach that includes direct teaching of skills within a rich, language environment that supports student efforts to construct knowledge and understanding. We teach our students to be good thinkers, good readers, and good writers. We build an understanding and appreciation of the natural world and the community in which we live, through our science and social studies programs. Our students learn the language and use of mathematics as they develop their number sense, and as they find solutions to math problems. The arts flourish in our school. The children learn skills in the use of various art media, and in the basic elements of art. They learn about the work of selected giants of art history as they re-create their styles of drawing and design. The children bring their own primitive exuberance and color and form to their drawings and creations. In music, the children learn the basic elements of tempo and melody through singing, movement, and the use of Orff instruments and methods.
