The Yolo County Library provides access for all to books, informational technology and other media to inform, entertain and inspire. The library system is comprised of the administrative and technical services departments, and seven branch libraries.
The Library was established in 1910. It operates under the general supervision of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors which appoints the County Librarian and the County Library Advisory Board.
The Library is funded by property taxes, state funds, library fines and fees, and donations. Davis area voters approved a special tax in 1989 for additional services at the Davis Branch including Sunday hours
