New K9 Nosework Classes starting at 2:30pm on Sunday, Oct. 18th at Lincoln Hall, 561 Main St. Boxford, Ma. 01921. The sport of K9 Nose Work is designed to develop dogs’ natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food, and exercise. This detection-style sport focuses on teaching handlers the observation skills and handling techniques that support their dogs in successfully locating the source of odors with searches (known as “hides”) of varying difficulty. In this introductory course, we concentrate on indoor searches to build teamwork and foundation skills for dogs and handlers. All searches are tailored for each dog's needs and learning capacity. Hides are only as difficult as dogs can handle so they receive frequent rewards for success. This new sport is designed for ALL dogs and handlers and it is FUN for all!
